In June 2018 I embarked on a month long journey to document various points of my early queer life. I documented as best I remembered my coming out experience. Below you'll find my original introduction to this site. As I transition to blogging in a more consistent, and more broad way, I hope to keep all of the original posts in this section to respect who and what I was during my first foray into public writing. Hover to the Sustaining Pride tab and you'll find the Pride Relics table to read through the blog posts from 2018.
What you will see on this site is my story and exclusively my story.
Sexual liberation of one person allows space for the liberation of another.
My intention is that someone somewhere can use what I used in that process of finding representation, hope, and ultimately love.
As a 27 year old cisgender gay able-bodied Mexican man I know there's more to my story that's yet to be lived and am mindful that identity and narratives change over time. Let this live as a manifestation of respect towards what I felt at those particular moments, individuals, and items. I refer to these pieces as "Pride Relics" as pieces that played or continue to play a role in how I see myself and the world.
Sustaining Pride is a life-long expectation in a heteronormative and dominator culture and I have no intention of shying away from being unapologetically gay.
