Sergio Pérez (he/him/el) holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from Loras College and M.S.Ed in Student Affairs Administration and Higher Education from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse and an ED.D. from Edgewood College.
Sergio was a 2016 nominee for the President’s Diversity Award at California Polytechnic State University. As the Loras Director of Inclusion & Advocacy he was named a member of the BizTimes Rising Stars Class of 2019 in Dubuque, Iowa. Under his leadership the Loras College Center for Inclusion & Advocacy was awarded the 2019 NASPA Region IV Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and was awarded Honorable Mention for the 2020 NCAA Inclusion Award. He completed La Academia de Liderazgo with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities in summer of 2022 as a fellow in the third national cohort.
Sergio is also involved with Iowa’s League of United Latin American Citizens as the state’s DEI committee Chair and Deputy State Director for Young Adults and one of the founders of Dubuque Unidos, an adult LULAC council responsible for organizing the largest tri-state Latinx festival drawing thousands of attendees each year. Nationally he is a member of LULAC's National LGBTQIA+ Affairs Committeeand was a guest of President Biden's Latnx LGBT+ summit Fall 2023.
For two years in a row he was named LULAC's National Advisor of the Year (2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada). In addition, Loras LULAC, the collegiate chapter he advises at Loras College was named National Collegiate Council of the Year in 2024. In his free time, Sergio loves to explore Chicago’s nightlife, loves to eat, visit with friends and family, and travel to México as much as possible.
